Punjab defeated Kolkata by seven wickets in the match played in Mohali yesterday afternoon. After winning the toss, Kolkata Knight Riders captain Nitish Rana decided to bowl first. Batting first, the Punjab team scored 191 runs losing five wickets in 20 overs.
Bhanuka Rajapakse scored the most runs for Punjab, scoring 50 runs in 32 balls. While captain Shikhar Dhawan scored 40 runs in 29 balls, Sam Karan scored 26 runs in 17 balls. Prabhsimran Singh scored 23 runs in just 12 balls, and Punjab’s wicket-keeper batsman Jitesh Sharma scored 21 runs. Tim Southee took two wickets from Kolkata, while Umesh Yadav, Sunil Narine, and Varun Chakraborty got one wicket each.
In response, the Kolkata team came out to bat and scored 146 runs losing seven wickets in 16 overs. Sunil Narine and Shardul Thakur were playing on the field when it started raining, and the match was stopped. After this, the game could not be played, and Punjab won the match by seven runs with the Duckworth Lewis method.
Andre Russell scored the most for Kolkata, scoring 35 runs in 19 balls. Arshdeep Singh took three wickets for Punjab, while Sam Karan, Ellis, Sikandar Raza, and Rahul Chahar got one wicket each.
